Configure your DNS settings

We have a number of guides on how to configure DNS at various popular providers here.

If your DNS provider isn't listed there or you're just looking for general instructions, read on!

  1. Connect to your domain registrar interface
MX records are set at your DNS provider which is usually the same as the domain registrar you’ve used to purchase your domain.

  2. Delete previous “MX” entries
Delete all the previous “MX” entries you had registered for your DNS Zone, if any.

  3. Add these MX entries
    Type: MX
    Host: @
    Value: mx1.improvmx.com
    Priority: 10

    &

    Type: MX
    Host: @
    Value: mx2.improvmx.com
    Priority: 20

  4. Add this TXT entry for SPF support
    Type: TXT
    Host: @
    Value: v=spf1 include:spf.improvmx.com ~all

  5. Now wait 24 - 48 hours for the DNS changes to propagate, although it often happens much sooner.

Still have questions?

There are dozens of DNS providers and although many of them use a standard format, some do deviate from it to some extent. Although we don't know the ins and outs of every DNS provider, we'll be happy to try and assist if you have attempted to add the records and something isn't right. Please let us know the following if you're requesting support:

  1. Which DNS service are you using? (remember, we have guides for several!)

  2. Include a screenshot or screenshots showing what you have entered (or are trying to enter).
