How to Create a Catch-All / Wildcard Alias in ImprovMX
Creating a catch-all or wildcard alias in ImprovMX allows you to receive all emails sent to your domain, even if the email address doesn't specifically exist. This feature is particularly useful for ensuring you don't miss any emails due to misspellings or if you want to monitor all emails sent to your domain.
Note that when you add a domain to ImprovMX, a catch-all is created by default. If it's not present for any reason, here's a step-by-step guide on how to set it up:
Step 1: Log in to Your ImprovMX Account
Go to the ImprovMX website and log in to your account. If you don’t have an account yet, you will need to sign up and verify your domain first.
Step 2: Navigate to Your Domain Settings
Once logged in, you'll see a dashboard with your domains listed. Scroll to the domain you want to set up a catch-all alias for.
Step 3: Set Up the Catch-All Alias
In the “Alias” field, enter an asterisk (*) to signify a wildcard alias. This will catch all emails sent to your domain that don't match any existing aliases.
In the “Forwards To” (Destination) field, enter the email address where you want all these emails to be forwarded to, then click "Add".
That's it! Now anything sent to any address at your domain that doesn't match an existing alias will be forwarded to the destination you specified.
To test, send an email to a random address at your domain (but not from the same email as your destination!), and check if it gets forwarded to your specified destination email.
